This Band Camp is a 10-week process that takes individuals with less experience, but a strong desire to be part of our group, and have them join either as a member of the colour guard or the hornline.
We will take participants through 5 weeks of fundamentals, followed by 5 weeks of hands on practice to learn two of Gayly Forward's standard marching tunes.
Coupled with self-directed practice outside of these sessions, the Band Camp will give participants a solid foundation to gain confidence in performing before joining the core band for the Toronto Santa Claus Parade.
We're looking for enthusiastic members of the queer community who really want to be a part of the band, but want to boost their skills before joining.
The ideal candidate is an individual with less experience, but a strong desire to be part of our group.
Participants will be assessed on the basis of their motivation, ability to commit to practicing, and attending band camp.
Additionally, a voluntary EDI declaration will allow us to recruit a diverse group from Toronto's 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
To apply for the Band Camp, fill out the application form.
Successfully learning an instrument involves consistent practice. As such, successful applicants must be able to commit to 4hrs of practice per week outside of the band camp sessions.
